On 8 October, We present a Korean cultural event “2023 Korea is coming” with the theme “Once upon a time…”. During the event, you can have a deep dive into Korean culture. We hope to invite you and experience our culture!

K-Dessert

Yak-sik, a type of Korean cuisine rice cake. It is a desert crafted by steaming glutinous rice mixed with chestnuts, jujubes, and pine nuts, then mixing it with sesame oil, honey, and soy sauce. As a traditional meal for the first full moon of the year, until this day, it is often presented at banquets such as weddings and birthdays.

Hwa-jeon or flower cake is a small Korean pan-fried rice cake. It is also made out of glutinous rice flour, honey and edible petals from seasonal flowers. This dessert has a history of several hundred years in Korea. Koreans make it to enjoy the spring, picnics etc. You always find it during the festivals of Samjinnal and Buddha’s Birthday.

Together we will discover Korean desserts and after the session you will be able to treat yourself to a wonderful Korean tradition.

K-Tea: Korean tea culture

Korean tea and tea culture hold a significant place in Korean society and history. Korean tea culture has deep roots, dating back over a thousand years. It encompasses various aspects such as tea preparation, serving, and the overall experience of enjoying tea. Korean tea includes green tea, herbal tea, roasted grain tea, fruit/flower tea, and roasted root tea. In this workshop, we will experience simple Korean tea ceremony and also taste different kinds of Korean tea.

It’s a makeup technique that not only promotes skin health through natural ingredients and personalized approaches but also expresses one’s beauty while keeping up with trends.

K-pop is a vibrant genre of South Korean music that blends catchy melodies, impressive choreography, and diverse visuals, capturing the essence of modern Korean culture.

*For the class, it is mandatory to wear a white t-shirt + jeans. Short pants or skirt is not allowed.

Taekwondo is a martial art that combines body movements with strength and technique to enhance physical fitness, cultivate character, and learn self-defense skills.

K-Art: Korean house culture

Experience making a traditional Korean straw broom, a representative household item from our culture. Create your own Korean traditional straw broom, which symbolizes sweeping in good fortune and sweeping away bad luck.

Korea has many fascinating and entertaining ancient tales. It shares legends of intriguing traditional instruments and witty princesses’ stories.

Kimchi Festival: Kimchi workshop

Are you familiar with the taste of Korea’s most representative dish: Kimchi? Let’s make kimchi together.

*The festival is available in English & French.

*All required materials for the workshop will be provided. You will participate in putting spice on each layer of a cabbage. After the workshop, you can bring your own Kimchi home. 

*If you prefer, you can choose to make Vegan Kimchi (Halal version unfortunately not available). 

*Social media event: if you take photos of Kimchi festival and upload it on your social media channels, we will reward you with some gifts. More detail information will be announced at the Kimchi festival (gift will be given first come first served based). 

K-Letter: Hangeul

The Korean alphabet is the Hangul. Let’s explore Hangul by playing with Korean alphabet games.

Practical Information

Entrance fee:

  • 6 October: €5 for the entire day
  • 7 October: €5 for the entire day
  • 8 October: €10 for the entire day (additional free events available on this day / no registration needed)

How to pay?:

  • Please send your entrance fee via bank transfer to BE95 9501 3113 6958 (KOCEABE.asbl)
  • Once we check your registration and payment, we will send you a confirmation mail.

Additional note:

  • You must register to participate in the events.
  • Program may close early due to the limited number of participants.
  • Are you participating with your children? If your children are under 10 years old, you do not have to buy tickets for children

Registrations are closed

  1. Once you register and complete payment, you will be on our registration list
  2. When you come to the event venue, we will check your name on our list and we will give you a paper bracelet. This bracelet works as an entrance ticket. 
  3. Upon entry, you will receive a souvenir along with registration confirmation.
